Leonard Litzenberger

September 8, 1928 - June 2, 2010

Leonard Litzenberger, 81, of Mead died June 2, 2010 at Life Care Center of Longmont.

 He was born September 8, 1928 in Johnstown to Jacob, Sr. and Mary (Koch) Litzenberger. Leonard was raised in the Longmont area, he attended Longmont country schools and graduated from Longmont High School in 1946.

 Leonard honorably served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1951 until his discharge in 1953.

 He married Mary Ellen Nygren on March 4, 1953 in Longmont. Leonard was a farmer and cattle feeder his entire life.

 Leonard was a member of Mead United Methodist Church, the Colorado Cattle Feeders Association and the Longmont Sirloin Club. He was the consummate farmer, taking great pride and pleasure in his farm and cattle.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jacob, Jr., Henry and Alvin Litzenberger and his sisters, Pauline Befus, Freida Gomer, Amelia Hoffman and Helen Spruiell.

 Leonard is survived by his wife Mary Ellen Litzenberger of Mead; his son, Mike Litzenberger and his wife Kathy of Longmont; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Diana Litzenberger, both of Longmont and a brother-in-law, Jack Spruiell of San Jose, California, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews

 Visitation 6 PM to 8 PM Monday June 7, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with family present to greet friends. Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday June 8, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, 350 11th Ave in Longmont. Interment at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and mailed to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
