Glenn V. Keller

Glenn V. Keller of Longmont passed away Thursday, Nov 12, 2009 at his home with family at his side. He was 85. Glenn was born June 18, 1924 in Berthoud, Colorado to Hilton and Gerturde (Summers) Keller.
He was born and raised on the family homestead east of Berthoud. He enlisted in the Army in 1944 and was stationed at Camp Lee, Virginia. His stature, voice and personality earned him the assignment of drill instructor. He was honorably discharged in November of 1946. On June 1, 1947 he married Maxine Stotts at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Mead, CO. He was a farmer for many years and served on the Mead Volunteer Fire Dept. He became a licensed electrician in 1964, working throughout Colorado building substations helping to bring electricity to new areas. In 1965, he and his family moved to Longmont. He worked on the City Street Dept, was an electrician for Trend Homes, and St. Vrain Valley School District where he retired after 17 years in 1993. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont.
Glenn and his wife loved to travel, going to the world’s fair in Tennessee and Canada. They also traveled all over the U.S. and visited Australia. He loved fishing, gardening and shooting the “Bull” with just about anybody. He never met a stranger.
Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, son Lloyd, parents, 2 brothers, Bernard and Floyd and 2 sisters, Geneva Gettman and Marilyn Keller.
He is survived by his daughter, Trudy Brandt and husband O.J.; Grandson Criss Brandt and wife Rachel; Granddaughter Deanna Dallas and husband Darvin; 3 great grandchildren, Bailey, Glenn and Ryan all of Longmont. Also surviving are a sister, Shirley Howes and husband Bill of Salt Lake City, Utah and various in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2009 followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. all at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Chapel. Family will be present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to greet friends. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Reception following at Summit Foursquare Church, 703 17th Ave in Longmont. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties c/o Carroll-Lewellen Funeral & Cremation Services.
